Introduction:

COBIT® is a framework for the enterprise governance and management of information and technology (I&T) that supports enterprise goal achievement.

The COBIT 2019 Foundation course is intended for current COBIT 5 certificate holders as well as those new to COBIT who are interested in achieving the latest foundation certificate.

In this course, delegates will be taught about the concepts, models and key definitions of COBIT framework and helps prepare learners to take the COBIT 2019 Foundation exam.

Course objectives:

After completing the COBIT 2019 Foundation course, delegates will be able to:

  • Introduction and benefits of EGIT
  • Attributes and benefits of using COBIT as an I&T framework
  • Overview of the COBIT core and the descriptions/purposes of the updated COBIT product family
  • Discussion on COBIT as an “umbrella” framework and its alignment with updated industry frameworks, standards and bodies of knowledge
  • Understand the overall training and certification scheme
  • Group discussion on EGIT and how COBIT supports this

Session 2: Principles

  • Six principles for a governance system
  • Three principles for a governance framework
  • Module review

Session 3: Governance System and Components

  • High level introduction and definitions of governance and management objectives including domains
  • Components of a governance system and the key points
  • Focus areas that describe certain governance topics
  • Design factors that can influence the design of an enterprise’s governance system and position it for success in the use of I&T
  • COBIT goals cascade that supports the prioritization of management objectives based on enterprise goals

Session 4: Governance and Management Objectives

  • High level descriptions of the 40 governance and management objectives
  • Description and discussion of the purpose statements for all 40 governance and management objectives
