This young man – yes he is only 17 years old – just passed his Comptia A+ exams. At the young, ripe age of 17; he already has an international Comptia A+ certification. He has now started with his Comptia Network+ . He is working towards becoming an IT Support Technician or Network Specialist.

Leonard was born in Zimbabwe and relocated to SA in Jan this year with his family.  Leonard’s passion not only lies with IT. He is an avid hip hop dancer and enjoys being social and spending time with people who motivates him.

I immediately asked him what inspired him. Being so young, one would almost think he would want to be out and about having fun with his friends.

  • Leonard said that although he passed his Matric, he felt that his marks could have been better. He was extremely disappointed in himself and that inspired him to do better and be really successful in life. He has always had interest in going into IT and decided that he will work hard towards his goals.

So, what is it that he is working towards?
– Leondard has a passion for Networking and therefore that is the career route he is following. He wants to be successful so that he can provide  for his family one day and even assist his parents in their old age. I was very impressed with Leonard. He has a wisdom way beyond his years.

Why did he come to MasterGrade IT?
– Leonard said from the very second he stepped in, he felt welcomed and “home”. He likes the atmosphere. Of course the training is important to him – and that’s top notch – but the fact that he feels comfortable and excited to come to MGIT daily, is hugely important to him.

Leonard, did not want to finish the conversation before he gave some advice to young (or old-er) students who wants to make a career change

“It is important to encourage each other”. Mix with the people you look up to. If you see someone succeeding in life, go to that person and let them take you under their wing. Learn from each other. Surrounding yourself with successful people is only going to empower you to want to do the same.
I want to be that for someone else”

MasterGrade IT feels very proud of this young man. We know he will achieve his goals and more.
