How do the services work that we see on the internet today? All of them run off some form of a server and the Microsoft solution to this is Windows Server 2008 R2. This is the platform that all of those services run off. With that in mind this course will show how to deploy a Server 2008 R2.

It is one thing to deploy this Server but another to configure it to your needs this course as well as a few others we have to offer will provide you with all the skills needed to successfully maintain a Server environment

About this course:

This course is aimed at instructing you on how to install and deploy Windows Server 2008 R2 using the Microsoft guidelines and best practices provided in the course materials and migrating from your existing environment to the Windows Server 2008 R2 environment.

It will also teach and demonstrate how one can automate these processes with the help of the Windows Server Deployment Accelerator.

With the setup we have all the theory you gain can solidified with the use of the “Labs” that we have to offer which cater to this course. The labs will allow you to do an installation, migration or upgrade in a virtual environment.

Who should attend training on Deploying 2008 Windows Server?

This course is targeted at IT professionals who have experience with the Windows Server 2003 or Windows Server 2008 environments. They should also be responsible for the deployment of Windows Server 2008 R2 with the R2 features that enhance the functionality of Windows 7.

It is also targeted at the guys are responsible for the design and implementation of such an infrastructure

This course is intended for IT professionals experienced on the technologies that Windows Server 2003 or Windows Server 2008 R2 include, and who have a Windows Server 2003 or 2008 MCTS or MCITP (or MSCA/MCSE) certification or equivalent knowledge.

Available Exams and Certification Paths

There is no exam for this course, due to the fact that it is part 1 of a part 2 process, so with that in mind the second part is 6439 and with both these courses completed, the exam would be:

 • 70-643 MCTS: Windows Server 2008 Apllications Infrastructure, Configuring Certification

6418 - Deploying Windows Server 2008

Before attending this course, students must have:

  • On-the-job experience in planning, implementing, managing, or supporting Windows Server 2000 or Windows Server 2003, including Active Directory and Network Infrastructure.
  • Working knowledge of networking, for example, TCP/IP and Domain Name System (DNS).
  • Experience with a Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Active Directory and Network Infrastructure.
  • Experience with implementing security for a Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Network.
  • Experience installing, configuring, and administering Microsoft Windows Server 2003, Windows XP, or Windows Vista.
